How to Carve a Bruce Springsteen Pumpkin (or any intricate pumpkin)

While Jack o' lanterns are always nice, sometimes it's fun to bring a little more character out of the pumpkin by doing an intricate pattern; in this example I'm using Bruce Springsteen.

AT THE MARKET:
Last Canandaigua summer market of the year this Saturday (Halloween), then next week we move to the parking lot behind the Byrne Dairy for the winter market. Still have no flowers (unless those last few sunflowers that made it through the freezes finally decide bloom), but I'll have autumn/Halloween decor with me. If you can't find me, just look for the scar and glasses, I'll be the one dressed as Harry Potter!

AT THE MARKET:
Well, it's pretty much the end of my flowers. Two freezes was enough to take out even most of the sunflowers. All I've got left are a few flowers here and there that were low enough to be protected from the frost. So I won't have much (if any) flowers this week. But I do still have broomcorn, flowered gourds and also a few carved pumpkins (put in your request this week, and I'll bring it carved next week for Halloween). Also next Wednesday the 28th is the final day of the Victor farm market. Bring the kids down to trick or treat at the vendors' tables.

AT THE MARKET:
If it doesn't freeze, I will have sunflowers once again at the markets. My last patch is just starting to show color, so should have enough for a bouquet or two this week, and if there's no freeze, several bouquets next week. I also have a fresh batch of flowered gourds and another dried flower wreath this week.

AT THE MARKET:
Last week was officially the last Cheshire market of the season, but I'm still at Canandaigua and Victor through the end of October. This week I'll only have a few flower bouquets as the colored flowers are starting to dwindle and the next sunflower patch won't be blooming for a week or two. I do have made my first autumn batch of beeswax tapers, however, and will have those on my table at the markets along with my other autumn items; dried flower wreaths, little flowered gourds, broomcorn swags, and fresh cut broomcorn.

AT THE MARKET:
This week I'll have mixed bouquets in Canandaigua, but sunflowers will be sparse, as I'm in the gap between patches where I didn't get any planting done when I was laid up with my broken face. So it'll be a few weeks before the next sunflower patch blooms. If I have time Friday, I'll see if I can cut some bittersweet bunches to make up for the lack of sunflowers. Also the vendors have decided to extend the Cheshire Farm Market another week, so I'll be there again this Thursday.
